Seaside Music Theater was one of the very first companies to present the Maury Yeston/Arthur Kopit version of "Phantom." Like most subsequent productions all across the country, it was a huge success. This was my second show with the wonderful director Lester Malizia, and my first with the incomparable musical director Milton Granger. For my work at Seaside that summer in "Phantom," "Evita," and as Tito in "Lend Me a Tenor" I won the Marvin Samuels Memorial Award for Best Actor.
I reprised the role of Erik in Carousel Dinner Theatre's first production of "Phantom," directed by Joseph Patton. Click the player below to hear a clip from the Seaside Music Theater production.
"Galen Fott, who has already turned in two stellar performances this season, brings the Phantom to life in a tension-wracked, emotionally draining characterization."--Daytona Beach News-Journal
"He has the voice and the acting ability to evoke many tears from his audience with his moving performance as the Phantom."--Beachside
"Fott takes you on an emotional roller coaster, forcing you to feel his pain, his joy and his life."--Falls News-Press
"Fott, who sings with much emotion in a rich baritone, brings an effectively natural quality to his role. This Phantom is not so much a menacing monster as a lonely man deeply in love."--Canton Repository
